HPiVS began in 1996 as a department within AEA Technology Plc, a FTSE 200 company. The Certification Services Department of the Atomic Energy Authority was subsequently sold to private investors and has been operating continuously since its foundation.
Although the name “HPi Verification Services” has only existed since June 2010, the current CEO has been with the organisation since its foundation in 1997 and working in CE marking since before the RCD and PED Directives were in force.
Our staff have been employed by the EU Commission as their representatives for several missions into Eastern Europe to assess EU applicant nations’ preparations for compliance with CE marking legislation and to train government officials and captains of industry.
Meet the Team
Alasdair Reay, CEO/Managing Director
Alasdair is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects. He started his career in 1991 on Lloyds Register’s Graduate Training Scheme and spent years working with all different types of marine vehicles, from hovercraft to semi-subs, all around the world.
He sits on a variety of national and International Standards committees and is Chair of the EU Commission’s Technical sub-committee (RSG) that provides the EU with guidelines for the design and construction of recreational craft and components. Alasdair is also a member of the EU Commission’s Group of Experts for recreational craft.

Matteo Convento, Technical Director (Industrial)
Matteo is a Chartered Engineer with experience in the Pressure Equipment industry from coordination to Project Management.
Since 2002, he has served as a Technical Co-ordinator and Assistant Technical Manager for PED services at Velosi Certification – Applus Group.
Matteo joined HPiVS in 2012 and oversees Pressure Equipment Certification/CE Compliance. He represents HPiVS in EU and UK Conformity Assessment Body Forums

Adam Greene, Technical Director (Marine)
Adam is a Chartered Engineer and member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects. He serves on several technical committees, including those focused on large yachts, and has contributed to several key industry standards.
Prior to joining HPiVS, Adam held key roles at Princess Yachts, where he contributed to the design and development of over 40 new and upgraded RCD vessels, and more than 35 RINA Class vessels. Before this he was involved with projects including, custom Wally yachts, America’s Cup vessels, and IMOCA 60s.

Vladislav Maslov, Quality Director and Technical Director (Welding)
Vladislav holds a Mechanical Engineering degree and a Candidate of Science degree (equivalent to PhD) in Metal Forming from Ural Federal University, and an IWE qualification from the International Institute of Welding. He has worked as a PED inspector and previously managed the PED/CPR department at TÜV Rheinland Russia.
He oversees quality management and leads the Welding Qualification division. Vladislav represents HPiVS in EU and UK Conformity Assessment Body Forums.

Jacquie Morgan, Business Director
Our Business Manager Jacquie runs the the non-technical aspects of the business, including finances and human resources.
Jacquie has been working with CEO, Alasdair Reay, since 2006 and is equally responsible for building HPiVS into the business it is today.
